Why This Scholarship Exists
Dr. Uche Okereke created this scholarship from a deeply held belief: talent exists in every corner of Ovim, but opportunity does not. This initiative bridges that gap โ giving promising students from disadvantaged backgrounds the support they need to succeed.
This is more than financial aid. It is a transformational program that equips scholars with leadership skills and mentorship opportunities, preparing them to be change makers in their communities.
Who Can Apply
The scholarship is open to Ovim youth who meet the following criteria. Read carefully before starting your application.
Applicants must be between 17 and 25 years of age at the time of application.
You have gained admission or are in your first year at a recognized Nigerian tertiary institution.
You are experiencing significant financial hardship โ such as loss of a parent, displacement, or family crisis.
You are from Ovim and are committed to volunteering and giving back to the Ovim community.
You can demonstrate academic motivation and a personal story that shows drive and resilience.
You have a personal statement, admission/enrollment proof, academic records, and two references ready.
Application Process
Fill out the online application and upload all required supporting documents by July 31, 2026.
A selection committee evaluates each application based on hardship, personal story, academic potential, and commitment to Ovim.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an in-person or virtual interview with the selection committee.
Successful applicants are notified by August 15, 2026 and welcomed into the scholarship program.
